Day 1

Arrival in Manila

Philippines journey begins at Manila's NAIA. Tripgullak representative waits with name at arrivals. Private transfer to Makati hotel — smooth & air-conditioned. Makati's central grid designed for evening pedestrians: Greenbelt circuit of open-air restaurants & garden bars (5-minute walk from most major hotels). Try authentic Filipino dinner tonight: kare-kare (oxtail peanut stew), sinigang (sour tamarind broth), or whole crispy pata (deep-fried pork leg) — will recalibrate understanding of what Filipino food actually is. Overnight Manila.

Best Time to Visit

Manila: Nov–Feb most pleasant for walking heritage districts. Bohol: Nov–Apr ideal. Balicasag waters clearest & calmest Dec–Mar. Sea turtle sightings reliable year-round; dolphin encounters more frequent Jan–May early morning departures. Avoid Jul–Sep for Bohol boat activities (monsoon swells can make crossing unsafe).

What to Pack

Reef-safe sunscreen (mandatory at Balicasag Marine Sanctuary); rashguard & swimwear for full-day snorkelling at Balicasag; water shoes for rocky reef entry points; modest attire for Manila church visits (shoulders & knees covered); dry bag for phone & wallet on Balicasag pump boat; GoPro or underwater camera (sea turtle photography at Balicasag is exceptional); insect repellent for Bohol Tarsier Sanctuary forest; PHP Peso cash for Manila souvenir shopping & Bohol local markets; Type A/B universal adapter 220V; motion sickness tablets for Balicasag boat on rough sea days.
